Vada Foster’s new book is out!

I designed the cover for Vada’s new book, so now it’s featured on the front page of my site. Here’s the blurb, and you can buy it at SCP.

An epidemic that swept through England spared young Colleen Edwards, but took the lives of her mother and brothers. When her father, Captain Charles Edwards, sails home to England, he places Colleen in a boarding school, thinking she would be better off there than on the sea. After two years in what she calls "the dungeon," Colleen finally convinces him to take her with him as part of his crew aboard the Betsy Ann. Thus begins Colleen's raucous life on the high seas.

Lady Abigail Hume is the young widowed daughter of the newly appointed governor of the Bahamas. Her new life on this tropical island is anything but paradise, as she rejects the never-ending line of suitors until one day by chance she meets the enigmatic but charming Colleen. Unfortunately, the two have little time to explore their newfound love.

Kidnapping and piracy ensues on the small island. Colleen suddenly finds herself captain of the Betsy Ann and must fight for her love as she battles the notorious pirate Jack Rackham, who is in league with the likes of Mary Read and Anne Bonny. Join the adventures of The Sea Captain and the Lady as they battle for love on the high seas.

What’s New!

Hey there, glad you could make it. Grab something to snack on and head on over to the fiction section.

New Blog Site

I’ve moved my blog. Or, more accurately, I’ve decided to blog at Wordpress. Why? Uploading to my blog using iWeb was a pain in the...mik’ta (sorry for the nerdy ref!). Anyway, you can find my blog here (which is http://polsblog.wordpress.com), and I will be sure to update it at least weekly, if not more often. Joe Mallozzi’s my hero, despite his unbelievable schedule with SGA, he blogs daily!

A Note on Updates...

I’ve been really lax on updating the site recently and thought I’d share why. My Pop, Chip Robinson, was diagnosed on April 30th with Glioblastoma Multiforme. That’s a deadly, incredibly aggressive brain cancer. Basically what it means is that a vibrant, really bright, talented man is going to die in the next few months, even with chemo and radiation treatments.

I spent two weeks in Florida in May helping out during his surgery, where more brain cancer was discovered, and have been keeping up with things in Florida and here in California while working full time as a designer, preparing for Fall classes (huge transition to online teaching) at CSUN, and trying to write. Unfortunately, the writing is falling short right now.

So, bear with me as I continue to update, and I will be writing more in the near future.

Thanks, Pol

Recent changes to the site (8/3/08):

  1. The blog has moved to: here (which is http://polsblog.wordpress.com)

  2. I’d post the story “Open Water” in its entirety if I could get MS Word 08 to stop crashing. I’m working on that!

The photos above were taken on various vacations by me. All are unedited, as in not retouched or modified in any way, and all were taken by me. The sea turtle is the most recent, from a snorkel trip in Kauai.

Enjoy your stay, read a bit, and drop me a line to let me know if you liked what you found.

Oh, and for a little fun, pop on over to: http://www.csun.edu/~pr4027/ That’s the site I built while working on my MA.
